Red Braised Pork

2.5lbs (1kg) Pork Belly
Small Piece of Ginger (35g)
2 Scallions (25g)
2 Star Anise
2.5 Cups Beef Stock
3 Tbsp Peanut Oil
3 Tbsp Shaoxing Wine
2 Tbsp Sugar
1 Tsp Cinnamon
2 Tsp Dark Soy
2 Tsp Roasted Sesame Seeds

Chop the pork belly into bite size pieces.
Cut the ginger into several slices.
Cut scallions into 2-3 inch chunks.

Add the peanut oil into an already hot wok.
Let sit for one minute.
Add in ginger and half the scallions.
Stir fry until fragrant.

Add in the pork belly.
Stir fry for several minutes.
Add in the shaoxing wine.
Stir fry for a couple more minutes.

Pour in the beef stock, soy sauce, cinnamon, sugar, and star anise.
Bring everything to boil in the wok.

Carefully transfer everything to a medium sized pot.
Let simmer for 2 hours.

Add in remaining scallions.
Pour into a serving bowl and add the sesame seeds.
Serve immediately.

  4. Toss in the ginger slices and half the scallions. Stir fry until fragrant.
  5. Add in the pork belly. Stir fry for several minutes.
  6. Add in the Shaoxing wine. Stir fry for a couple more minutes.
  7. Pour in the beef stock, soy sauce, cinnamon, sugar, and star anise. Bring everything to a boil
  8. Carefully transfer everything to a medium sized pot. Let it simmer for 2 hours.
  9. Before serving, add in remaining scallions. Pour the contents into a serving dish and add the sesame seeds.
  10. Serve immediately.
